The exhibition Looking in the Mirror was an a little confronting. I was one of group of six New England artists asked to paint self portraits in the actual gallery. Self
portraits from NERAM's permanent collections hung opposite where we were working. Artists from Ester Paterson who painted her portrait in 1935, to Brett Whiteley's work of 1972. These paintings and drawings provided a contrast and inspiration.
